Open-world racing to return in the next Need for Speed.
Speaking at presentation to industry analysts yesterday, EA Games president Frank Gibeau revealed the future of the Need for Speed franchise, indicating that the next in the series wouldn't follow the ProStreet formula.
Need for Speed ProStreet dropped many of the features fans of the series have grown to love, such as open city racing and a more arcade feel. Gibeau stated that the next game will feature open-world racing and a highway battle mode.
We're hoping the next Need for Speed can manage to capture what made Most Wanted so entertaining. The Xbox 360 launch title impressed despite being little more than a PS2 port, whereas ProStreet only managed to score 6/10 late last year.
