8. Otacon - Metal Gear series

Hal "Otacon" Emmerich is a total geek. He works with computers, loves watching animes, and he pisses himself in terror when he's threatened by semi-invisible robot ninjas. In short, he's one of us, and his lovable nature makes him a geeky foil to Solid Snake's tough guy act throughout Metal Gears 1, 2 and 4. Whether he's helping you out directly through the use of a remote-controlled Metal Gear, blathering with you over the radio or mourning the death of a loved one (poor guy), Otacon is one of those gaming allies who permanently etches himself into your mind.

7. Urdnot Wrex – Mass Effect

Wrex liked killing people. Lucky for him, he was extremely adept at doing it. It wasn't just his huge frame, or his deep, booming voice, or his skill with a shotgun that made him tidy in a scrap. It was all of these qualities added together. Wrex followed Shepard just for the hell of it ("a storm's coming, and you and Saren are right in the middle of it"), and for that we loved him. But the Krogan Battlemaster's blood lust often made you laugh, too. He didn't speak often, but when he did, you'd listen, and you'd take him out on missions just to see if he had something particularly brutal to say about the carnage Shepard and co were causing. Our favourite Mass Effect character and a worthy companion on your quest to save the galaxy.

definitely DOG is the perfect one, he´s funny and he saves more than one time in the game.

I think too in Linch in Kane&Linch, he´s a little bit crazy but he is a great freind, and takes a lot of bullets for you.

I think he meant on the screen where you click on to follow the article, the picture is number 1. I had forgotten about that but maybe if you get to number 2 and the picture hadnt came up then you would know what it was.

It was so pointless you had to love it. Especially after it followed you throughout the whole game!
And it's cute little voice, you make it sound like it shouted 'Hey listen',
it said it all sweetly and like a little baby :D

I remember Navi! Stupid Avatar stole that name.
I think Navi should have won actually;
(probably because that was the only game I've played in the list)
Not surprised to see Half-Life 2 and Portal in there some how, they always are in every list at least once.
Surprised there was no dog from Fable II though, guess you didn't think he compared to the dog in Fallout 3 then?

VG really needs to stop putting the first place as the advertisment

Interesting that Agro from Shadow of the Colossus is in the list, but not Yorda from its spiritual predecessor, Ico. She was, for me at least, the most memorable companion in any game I've played.

I'd squeeze out Tifa and stick Yorda in her place, and replace Dogmeat with Basil (my dog from Fable 2, I had Mr. Fawkes in Fallout 3 and he was too ugly to make my top 10).
