Ian Livingstone, Eidos co-founder, has revealed that Angelina Jolie is to reprise her role as Lara Croft in a third Tomb Raider movie.
Speaking to the Daily Express Livingstone said that "Paramount has optioned it [a third Tomb Raider movie] and Angelina has agreed to star in the third." Jolie, who is currently living in Nambia awaiting the birth of her child, will begin training almost immediately after giving birth. A source told the paper that Jolie "wants to be in tip-top shape and look better in Lara's outfit than ever."
Although the previous Lara Croft Tomb Raider films were given a bit of a critical bashing, box office takings together with profits from their respective DVD releases have made them a commercial success. With the recently released Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend having gone down well with critics and currently residing at the top of many a video game chart, everything points towards the continued success of the franchise.
