David Jaffe has revealed that he's confident that there will be a third game in the God of War series.
A blog post on July 10 from Jaffe begins with some general reports on the progress of God of War 2. "I can tell you that God of War 2 is shaping up very, very nicely," Jaffe proclaims. "I played a bunch of levels last week and it's really, really fun. The art and music is much better than the first game and there is some damn fine level design going on in the new game. As Cory [God of War II director] and I have said to the press, this is the second act of a bigger story."
Fans of the series will obviously take some pleasure from news that development of God of War 2 is going well, but Jaffe had more God of War news to share - in particular the chances of there being a third game in the hack 'n' slash action series.
"When you are making a game, you never really know if the game will turn out good enough to merit another one in the series," he said. "But after last week, I can say I am very confident of our chances to be able to complete the God of War trilogy."
Obviously this isn't an official announcement for the third game and Jaffe was sure to make this known: "You never know, but that's me just putting it out there." God of War 2 is coming to the PlayStation 2, but should a third title go into production you'd think the series would make a move to the PlayStation 3.
