Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition News for PS2

A Spanish retailer has listed the Devil May Cry HD Collection exclusively for PlayStation 3, and reports that it will be released in Europe on November 30.

The now-removed entry on XtraLife.es - spotted by Siliconera - also provided box art for the game, which shows that the collection includes the first three games in the series.

There's no listing for the Xbox 360, and the boxart sports the 'Only on PlayStation' stamp.

The listing follows an earlier rumour that the Devil May Cry HD collection would be announced by Capcom at E3 2011.

Devil May Cry 1 launched in 2001, Devil May Cry 2 in 2003, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening was released in 2005. They are all so old that VideoGamer.com does not have reviews for any of them, though our Devil May Cry 4 review handed down a respectable 8/10, and I can officially confirm that the first and third games are superior to the fourth.

2011 marks the tenth anniversary for the series originally conceived as a Resident Evil game. Going forward, Enslaved developer Ninja Theory has been controversially put in charge of an all-new Devil May Cry game.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

As a fun fact, VideoGamer.com currently lists Devil May Cry 1 and 2 as being released on March 26 2006. Despite this inexplicable error, we remain one of the UK's most trusted video game websites.

She is rather sex-tastic in MvC3 ;) It'd be cool for a DMC game to have multiple characters to choose from to play as. And by multiple I mean more than 2, and the levels have different ways through them depending on your character, kinda like Sonic & Knuckles I suppose.

Anyway, PSN exclusive makes me sad :|

The picture suggests it's the Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition which, yes, has the slightly easier difficulty and ability to play as Dante's brother Nero.

DMC3 is honestly one of my favourite games of all time. The feel of the combat is incredible - the best in the series, and probably the best of the genre. I even prefer the fighting to that of Bayonetta.

1 is great, too. Having 2 in the collection will be okay, if only just to remind people how bad 2 was.

Being pooed on by a seagull is better than DMC2. DMC3 is a masterpiece.

As I said to Martin via twitter. DMC4 was a disappointment with Nero being a pain, but with Dante saving the game from an early grave.

I like DMC1, DMC2 was meh, and the third... Well, I haven't played the third game and I hear its tonnes better than DMC2.

I hope it comes with the 'Easier' version of DMC3 because the original kicked my ass so bad that I'm pretty sure I cried on a couple of occasions!

I never actually read the DMC4 review, but ... oh dear. It suggests that the best game in the series was the first one?

Even with the inclusion of the awful second game, I'd definitely buy this. For some stupid reason I still don't have the Special Edition of DMC3, which I need to correct soon!
