Zoo Digital Publishing has announced that it has signed the European publishing rights for Alien Hominid, the fiendishly difficult 2D shooter, set for release on PlayStation 2 and Xbox in May 2005.
The game started out life as a web based Flash game, attracting millions of players from all over the world. The console version builds on the web games success and offers some classic 2D shooting action, rarely seen on current consoles.
Playing as the Alien, you must chase after your UFO, but about a million FBI agents stand in your way. With some of the best looking 2D cartoon graphics seen in a videogame, and support for up to four players, Alien Hominid is a dream come true for gamers looking for a bit of old-skool action.
John Baez, co-founder of Behemoth, creators of Alien Hominid, had this to say about the deal: "As an indie developer, it was important for us to work with a company who understood the alien. Zoo loves the alien, we love Zoo!"
It is unclear as to why the GameCube version is not included in this announcement, but European GameCube owners appear to have got the short straw again. We'll have more news as it becomes available.
