World of Warcraft announces final server blade auction

Auction runs until January 30.

Blizzard will be holding its final auction of retired EU server blades on eBay, with all proceeds donated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The auction runs from January 23 to January 30, and lets those interested bid on one of World of Warcraft's old self-contained servers which have since been upgraded:

"The blade servers themselves contain only the core processing elements, making them hot-swappable. HP refers to the entire package as a BladeSystem. By consolidating and housing multiple servers in a single enclosure, energy costs are significantly reduced, cabling is drastically reduced and managing servers is simplified."

Buyers will be responsible for shipping costs as blades are currently located in Paris, France.
