Warcraft nutball strangles own mother

Grandfather shoots him in the ear.

27-year-old James Swan, from Manatee in Florida, choked his mother after she asked him to quieten his World of Warcraft playing, according to a local report.

His 50-year-old mum asked him to stop so that her three grandchildren could go to sleep.

Swan, who had been drinking, lost control after his mum put her hand on his shoulder.

He grabbed her by the hair and threw her onto the bed. She managed to get to the kitchen to call 911, but Swan "ripped the phone off the wall, banged his head into the drywall and then grabbed his mother and threw her on the floor".

According to the sheriff's report, he then went back to choke her, "saying he was going to kill her".

Swan's grandfather retrieved a gun out of a closet. During a struggle, it fired while holstered, grazing Swan behind the left ear.

Swan's being held without bond at the county jail on charges of domestic battery by strangulation, child abuse and felony tampering.
