Blizzard's vice president of development Itzik Ben Bassat has said that the company's next MMO will be something new.

Speaking to Empire magazine, Bassat said that when the company announces its next MMORPG "it's not going to be another WoW - we're not a company that tends to tread the same ground."

According to Bassat the new MMO will be "something innovative and new that really brings entertainment to another level."

At the launch of WoW expansion, The Burning Crusade, Bassat took the stage and hinted that a new game in the StarCraft franchise would be released before the end of 2008 - perhaps a StarCraft MMO is on the cards? Not all that likely, with a new entry in the RTS series being rumoured, but anything's possible.
