EA and Mythic are building up to three Warhammer Online server closures, but are offering free transfers to specific servers for those affected - something that usually costs money.

According to Mythic the "transfers will enable players to experience more action during all hours whether fighting in scenarios or Open RvR."

Essentially, on North American servers, Iron Rock and Volkmar are closing, with players being encouraged to move to Gorfang for free. In Europe, Carroburg server is closing, with players encouraged to move to Drakenwald.

"The game play experience of our customers is something we highly value. We don't make changes like this lightly," reads the official site. "A lot of metrics and analysis accompanies this type of decision. We feel that these changes will help to ensure that server options continue to facilitate that best RvR experience out there. Thanks for playing and see you on the battlefield!"

They need to put a new spin on these things, like "Iron Rock and Volmar are located on the San Andreas Fault, so we're evacuating you for your own safety. Carroburg is located in Croydon, nuff said."

Otherwise it looks like the game isn't doing as well as anticipated, and prospective gamers start to wonder why.

Even World of Warcraft have been known to shut realms (4 closed when they implemented Russian localisation), they just spun it better. Having said that they've opened up a couple of hundred new realms since then.
