Welcome to the Rumour mill, VideoGamer.com's run-down of the big rumours currently doing the rounds in the video game industry. Every week we'll hunt down the juiciest stories and give our opinion on how legit they are. So, whether you want the ridiculous or the plausible, read on.

Ready at Dawn working on PS3/Xbox 360 title

The Rumour: The developer of Daxter and God of War: Chains of Olympus for PSP is working on a brand new IP, but it's ditching the PSP. The brand new game will be coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a Wii version also rumoured.

Verdict: Anything's possible. After working on two PSP titles - both of which demonstrated amazing technical proficiency with the console - perhaps the team wants a new challenge. At the moment we only have Surfer Girl's word to go on, but there's no info to suggest otherwise. If true, we can't wait to see what the developers can do on the next-gen consoles.

Plausibility rating: 3/5

Third-person Warhammer title coming from THQ

The Rumour: Not content with the hit RTS series Dawn of War, THQ's Australia Studio is apparently hard at work on a third-person action title set in the Warhammer universe. Seeing as THQ currently owns the Warhammer 40,000 licence a game in that universe is expected.

Verdict: This isn't completely new territory for THQ, with 2003's Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior trying to bring life to the licence as an FPS. It didn't turn out too well, but the licence itself seems perfect for a spectacular action title. Given the success of the RTS series and the planned MMO a new third-person shooter seems perfectly plausible.

Plausibility rating: 3/5

EA to heavily support iPhone

The Rumour: As well as the recently demoed Spore, EA will bring a number of its biggest franchises to the iPhone. These include The Sims and Need for Speed. A couple of original titles are also in development.

Verdict: EA has already shown it's behind Apple's phone as a gaming platform, and the publisher has supported mobile phone gaming for some time now. With the power of the iPhone enabling console-like gaming experiences the biggest publisher in the world is obviously going to put its weight behind the platform.

Plausibility rating: 4/5

Patapon marching away from PSP

The Rumour: Just as other PSP games have arrived on other Sony systems, Patapon will be appearing on a home console in the future. The question is whether or not the quirky rhythm-based strategy game will be ported to the PS2 - like a number of PSP games have - or if we'll see a new version on the PS3 via PSN?

Verdict: Sony always tries to make the most of its games and properties. Patapon seems like the perfect title for the PSN so we'd bet good money on the game arriving on the PS3 in some form in the near future. Hopefully it'll be more than the interactive screensaver LocoRoco on the PS3 turned out to be.

Plausibility rating: 4/5
