Heads-up: What's new this week

A look ahead to Friday's new releases.

Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommendation of the Week: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm, PC
The third expansion in the hugely popular RTS series introduces two new races to the game, a wealth of new multiplayer options and an entirely new single-player campaign. Sure the visuals are looking more than a little ropey by today's standards, but we're not playing DoW for the cutting-edge graphics.

Those new to the series tempted to take a look can play Soulstorm as a standalone title, offering access to all the races in the single-player game and single-player skirmishes. Most fun is to be had when used as an expansion to the previous instalments. This means you get to play multiplayer matches with the complete roster of races, including the newly added Sisters of Battle and the Dark Eldar.

Also out this week
Army of Two, Xbox 360, PS3: Originally scheduled for release late last year, but delayed in order to offer some extra time to the developers, Army of Two finally makes it into stores this week. You can read our full thoughts tomorrow, but we can say that it's a game made for co-op play and as such doesn't work anywhere near as well when played solo.

Bully: Scholarship Edition, Xbox 360, Wii: Released for PS2 in the back end of 2006, Rockstar's controversial title was a very solid departure from the GTA franchise. The Xbox 360 and Wii versions each benefit from version specific enhancements: improved high-definition visuals on Xbox 360 and new mini-games for Wii. It's unlikely to tempt those who've already played through the PS2 game, but those yet to attend lessons at Bullworth Academy should certainly take a look.

Destroy all Humans: Big Willy Unleashed, Wii: Now only coming to Wii, the first of the new batch of Destroy All Humans titles - an even more next-gen version is on the way later this year for PS3 and Xbox 360 - once again sees players taking control of Crypto, only now in the 1970s. Expect the usual tongue-in-cheek humour and human zapping action, only now with Wii Remote and Nunchuck control.
