The launch of Titanfall has led to a 96 per cent increase in Xbox One hardware sales in the UK, Chart-Track has revealed.

The figure was announced alongside this week's All-Formats Charts, which saw Titanfall snatching the no.1 spot from highly-anticipated competitor Dark Souls 2.

While exact sales numbers have not been confirmed, the official Titanfall bundle accounted for 70 per cent of all Xbox One hardware sold last week, which includes a free digital copy of Respawn's shooter.

The jump also follows last month's permanent price drop that saw the console slashed from £429.99 to £399.99.

Microsoft told the New York Times last week that "it's hard to understate how incredibly important Titanfall is for Xbox", with the platform holder hosting launch events across the globe to celebrate the game's arrival.

The game launches on Xbox 360 on March 28.

@pblive Whilst I agree the DS4 is an improvement over the DS3, aesthetically and ergonomically, it still feels somewhat flimsy and plasticky.

It doesnt have the tactility and heft of the Xbox controller, and feels less solid. If you grip the handles on a DS4 firmly, you can feel the separate pieces of plastic it is made of creaking, as though it is trying it's hardest not to fall to pieces.

All this is before mentioning the fact that rubber on the analog sticks of my DS4 (and apparently many other peoples') has started to peel off after only a month or so worth of use.

Now with the help of Titanfall, it generally boosted XBox One's sales and I'm impressed. I'm already deciding to get ang XBox One instead than a PS4. Haha.

I've always preferred the Xbox 360 controller for FPS and the Xbox One controller is a logical evolution of that. Saying that, the DS4 is a vast improvement over the DS3 and is a joy to use.

The controller was one of the main reasons I got a XOne over a PS4. When I used the DS4 at Eurogamer Expo last year it felt really cheap and tacky compared to the XOne controller.

Finally got to play an XOne the other night - and wish I hadn't. So good, and that controller... blows the DS4 out of the water, in my opinion. Let another price cut hit, and *boom* - I shall acquire one.

Still curious to see how TF will look on the 360. Rather tempted by all the fun so many seem to be having with the title.

Playing on this last night, it's worth all the hype and is a game changer. It's for hardcore and casual, just fantastic work by Respawn.

I'm not sure how you increase a sale of one by 96%...

Of course I'm joking, but this is excellent news for MS. I would have expected a jump in sales, but this is ridiculous. Judos, MS. Hopefully the next-gen battle will be more even now and hopefully next-geners won't have to wait 6 months for the next title.

An excellent game which MS were counting on big style and it looks like it paid off.
