Book 10: The City of the Kings adds over 100 new quests and will be released on August 21.
Codemasters Online and Turbine, Inc. have announced details of the second free expansion for subscribers of The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Titled Book 10: The City of the Kings, players will be given access to over 100 new quests, enhancements to monster play and a new Reputation and Bartering system.
New monster play will enable players to spend their Destiny Points to play as a powerful Ranger of the North or a terrible Troll giving their allies a strategic advantage in the battle for control of the Ettenmoors.
Critter play will make it possible for players to experience Middle-earth from a different viewpoint, that of a chicken. This is the first of many new playable critters that will be added to the game.
AdvertisementThe new Reputation system enables players to earn positive and negative standing with different races and groups in Middle-earth based on monster kills and quest completions. The Bartering system will make it possible to trade trophies for rewards such as armour or mounts.
Book 10 will be released on August 21 and work on Book 11 is already underway with its release planned for the autumn - excitingly this will offer players the opportunity to live in their very own house in Middle-earth.
