Bethesda has confirmed that Dawnguard, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's first chunk of DLC, will not be launching on PS3 and PC this week.

Many PS3 and PC fans were expecting the game to arrive imminently as Microsoft's 30-day Xbox 360 exclusivity deal ended, but Bethesda marketing chief Pete Hines has confirmed that the publisher has "not announced Dawnguard for any other platform" at present.

"We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news," he said on Twitter, adding that "If we have news, I promise I'd tell you."

After confusing a whole bunch of people into thinking that Dawnguard was never going to come out on PC and PS3, Hines reiterated that he "was simply stating that expecting/demanding something today is unfounded. Not that news is never coming."

Is the wait worth it? "You'll be sorely disappointed if you go in expecting to find Skyrim's version of Bloodmoon or The Shivering Isles" we said in our 7/10 Dawnguard review.

Bethesda is also working on the 1.7 patch for Skyrim, which it released in beta form on Steam earlier this week.
