UPDATE: Yoshinori Ono has clarified that his "position within Capcom has not changed and I'm still involved in all of the projects that I'm currently working on."

"Only my role for Capcom Vancouver has ended."

ORIGINAL REPORT: Yoshinori Ono has resigned from his position as director at Capcom Vancouver.

"I resigned from the director position about CAPCOM Vancouver," Ono wrote on Twitter this afternoon. "Thanks good staff of CAPCOM Vancouver, and Dead Rising staff!"

He added that he had to "take some time" and "think over very carefully about next things".

It isn't yet clear whether Ono has left Capcom entirely or will continue to serve under a different position at the company. Prior to working at Capcom Vancouver, Ono worked as producer on the Street Fighter series.

VideoGamer.com has contacted Capcom for comment.

I have mixed feeling about this as well, but for different reasons. I like Ono, he seems like a good guy and I can just about forgive him for street fighter X Tekken. However, Ono does have a habit to hard for is own good. He is always travelling, going to events, working with teams in multiple different countries. He worked himself to a state of literal collapse last year. It's probably for the best he takes a different position at Capcom that puts him in less strain, but allows him to still be a bit creative.

Let's be honest, he's the one who took Street Fighter 4 in the direction it's in now, which is excellent HOWEVER he's the one who made the god awful Street Fighter X Tekken. There's definitely mixed feelings if he's not at Capcom any more.
