Star Wars: The Old Republic will include achievements
Further achievements may be added after launch.
Star Wars: The Old Republic will feature achievements at launch, according to BioWare lead writer Daniel Erickson.
Speaking at last week's Eurogamer Expo, Erickson stated: "Achievements have made ship in fact."
"They're not going to be the crazy achievements that you have to place everywhere, that are like, 'Hey if you drink 6 beers and fart in a cantina,'"
He explained: "Those are not going the achievements to go in. Version one of the achievement system [will] go in, which is actually doing big, heroic stuff, because there's a ton of great optional content in The Old Republic."
Achievements will function as awards for outstanding performance. However a second tier of achievements may be added later after the MMO's release, to give incentive to users to re-explore all the territory.
Recently BioWare confirmed Star Wars: The Old Republic will release December 20 in North America and December 22 in Europe.
