EA hopes to achieve over two million.

According to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, who recently met with EA, the publisher believes BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO can achieve subscriptions of over two million players.

EA has previously stated that the game is the "largest ever development project, period, in the history of the company."

The game won't, however, need to reach the two million mark in order to break even. According to Bhatia, this can be achieved by gaining a little over a million subscribers.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is scheduled for release in spring 2011.

Not really, this game one has EA behind it, and two is being made by Bioware, so I think it will be fine.

as long as they dont shoot themselves in the foot like they did with Galaxies this could be awesome.

I dont know about the rest of you but rather than be a Jedi fighter (and before anyone jumps in with this being set in the old republic age...) I want to fly an xwing or similar and dog fight tie fighters and assault the death star and star destroyers. I want a new xwing with modern hi-red graphics as that is still one of my favourite gaming experiences of all time.

They might as well call it The Matrix 2.0 (v1.0 being Star Wars Galaxies ;))

That'll be NO problem, it's star wars. Star Wars is one of the biggest names in media history and with its fanbase 1 million is like a penny, even those who aren't gamers and those who played Galaxies will be getting it.
