GSC Game World, the Ukrainian developer behind last year's surprisingly good open world FPS survival horror S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl is "looking into" making an MMO style game out of the franchise.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at a press event for the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl prequel, Clear Sky, GSC Game World's Oleg Yavorsky said that the team is currently "considering different options", including pairing with a developer that has MMO experience, but "hasn't started anything there yet".

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl was a critical success and sold over a million copies on PC when it was released early last year. Its open world gameplay fused traditional FPS mechanics with role-playing elements.

When asked if he agreed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was a game that suited an MMO style game, Yavorsky revealed the team had already looked into it.

"We also looked into that side and again it's a totally different type of development which we don't have experience of yet," he said. "We're considering different options there for development with someone who already has big experience of that. But so far we haven't started anything there yet."
