Spore creator Will Wright says that the game is on course for release in the second half of 2007.
According to a behind the scenes report of Wright's Monday visit to Comedy Central's current affairs show The Colbert Report, development of Spore is coming along very well. A pretty complete version of the game is now playable to people outside of the core development team.
Speaking away from the cameras, Wright said that the game is expected to reach Alpha in the spring and should be ready for release in the second half of 2007. Good stuff.
