Space Siege News

For:PC  Also On: Xbox 360 Release Date: 21 August 2008

Gas Powered Games on board to develop Space Siege, an action-RPG title for the PC platform.

SEGA has announced the development of Space Siege. The game is described as the spiritual successor to Dungeon Siege, featuring a deep and compelling storyline, intense combat and a dynamic character development system.

In development at Gas Powered Games, creators of the Dungeon Siege series and Supreme Commander, Space Siege takes place in the confines of the Armstrong, one of the few remaining colonization ships carrying the last bastions of human civilization following a devastating attack on Earth by an unknown alien race.

Players will take on the role of Seth Walker, a cybernetics engineer who is suddenly thrust into a struggle to save humanity from extinction. As Seth's adventure unfolds he will have opportunities to give up parts of his humanity for cybernetic upgrades that will aid in his mission. The decision to sacrifice Seth's humanity will be entirely down to the player.

At the most extreme, players will be able to transform Seth's body into an almost entirely cybernetic creation, leaving virtually none of his original humanity intact. Players can also choose to preserve Seth's humanity, refusing any cybernetic upgrades and attempting to defeat the alien threat with human ingenuity and strength. Without the cybernetic enhancements, Seth's mission will be much more difficult.

With a fully dynamic storyline, ultimately leading to different story resolutions, Space Siege should provide plenty of longevity and replay value. The game will also feature co-op multiplayer, enabling up to four players to experience a toally unique mission structure.

Space Siege is scheduled for release for PC in 2008.
