Rage on PS3 currently running considerably slower than PC and Xbox 360 versions.
Game development legend and id Software co-founder John Carmack has never been shy to offer his honest opinion on each console, and he's been at it again when talking about the studio's latest game, Rage.
In an interview with EDGE (via CVG), Carmack has revealed why the PS3 version of the game is currently running slower than the Xbox 360 and PC versions.
"The PS3 lags a little bit behind in terms of getting the performance out of it," said Carmack. "The rasteriser is just a little bit slower - no two ways about that.
"The RSX is slower than what we have in the 360. The CPU is about the same, but the 360 makes it easier to split things off, and that's what a lot of the work has been, splitting it all into jobs on the PS3," he said.
So there you have it. Hopefully id will be able to get all three versions running at the same speed in time for launch.

Of course there are still a few absolute turds like Fallout but they are happening less and less as parity becomes closer. It is evident that the 360 is easier to code for but if you have the skills/resources to put into it the PS3 gives the best results.

All i am saying is that Sony have the better programmers when it comes to their console exclusive ips and i'm sure its the same when it comes to the 360. With this game i bet theres more 360 orientated programmers then there are ps3 programmers so when those 360 programmers try to port the game over of course its going to be easier because it would be more familiar for them and less of a challenge.
I guess its just a matter of time before developers have no excuses for making bad ports etc etc

Yes Naughty and Guerilla are awesome but they are only focused on that platform.
Carmack has also said the game will release at 60fps for all platforms.

Naughty Dog are the best about at the minute when it comes to producing amazing games in every meaning of the word.

NaughtyDog and Guerilla are two top great developers. Shame that Isomniac didn't put more effort into R2 such as visuals. Yes it improved but still looked outdated in places.

I think R2 was good, but they had to sacrifice the visuals to gain in other places. Much like Bungie have to do with Halo on the 360.

Honestly, porting a game to a console with a completely different architecture is asking for trouble.
