Update 2: The PS4 version will launch in Europe on July 22, Activision has confirmed. In addition, the games will be available to buy individually on PS4 and Xbox One from August 12.

Activision also confirmed the two games have been updated – not remastered – with Full HD rendering, improved framerate, and higher-resolution textures and effects.

UPDATE: Activision has released a launch trailer for the Prototype bundle, confirming its immediate release on both Xbox One and PS4. The trailer runs at 1080p/60fps, suggesting the games may also run at these specifications.

Original report: Activision has stealth-released an Xbox One port of its open world series Prototype.

A bundle containing the original Prototype and 2012 follow-up Prototype 2 appeared on the Xbox Games Store overnight, although their descriptions don’t make it clear how they’ve been improved for the new console.

We don’t yet know, for example, the frame rate and resolution of the two games, or whether there have been any further graphical enhancements. The original Xbox 360 game ran at 640p/30fps, with the sequel reported to come in at around 672p/30fps.

The bundle is available for £39.99 and includes additional DLC, although the games do not appear to be available to purchase individually. Cabela developer Fun Labs also appears to have some involvement in the port.

Rumours about the new-gen ports began circling weeks ago after a PS4 trophy list for the original Prototype appeared online. The games were later spotted in the Featured Challenges section on Xbox One, although Activision has never formally announced them.

The bundle does not currently appear to be available on PS4.
