Tom Orry, Editor - LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, Xbox 360, PS3

I'm still working through the excellent Portal 2, but this week I diverted my attentions to the fun, albeit slightly flawed LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. I've played almost all the LEGO games over the years and for me the formula is starting to get a bit stale. I love the charm and humour that developer Traveller's Tales manages to inject into its games, but the combat and platforming need a shake up, and the storytelling needs to be better. I'd also like a genuine reason to need a friend playing by your side, as currently the only benefit is the odd two-player puzzle becoming slightly less awkward.

Neon Kelly, Deputy Editor - L.A. Noire, PS3, Xbox 360

After what seemed like an endless wait, I've spent the past week trawling the raw underbelly of 1947 Los Angeles. I've met countless unsavoury characters, seen terrible things, and scrabbled about for the truth like a lost child in the dark. Check back here on Monday to hear the final review; I can promise that the verdict will be completely and utterly spoiler-free. Until then I better keep my mouth shut, otherwise I'll end up sleeping the big sleep... or worse still, sliced in half and left on exhibit in a dark East Croydon alley. Review embargos are serious business, you know.

Martin Gaston, Previews Editor - Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Xbox 360, PS3, PC

I've only played about an hour of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood this week. What did I do? Bought a couple of shops; sent a few of my dudes out on some missions; and assassinated a couple of random guys.

Next week I might talk about upgrading my armour or something.

Emily Gera, Staff Writer - Civilization V, PC

Yeah, I’m still going on about this. I’ve made the exciting move from single-player to multiplayer now, and have taken to exterminating both Ghandi and the French as played by Scottish teenagers. After pouring about 30 hours into it so far I think it’s safe to say the combat in Civ V is better than any of the previous games. I just miss the slower strategic elements of creating gold farms like you would in the old Civ IV days. Ah well. If you’re about on Steam give me a shout and we’ll have a game.

New stuff to check out

The non-linear way of progressing through levels is good, but I'm not feeling much else towards it.

Stick with it. It starts out slowly, but it's an amazing game. You'll get to Hell's kitchen, and there's an insane amount of hidden stuff there.

As much as I enjoyed Sands of Time on the PS2, I never did get round to the other 2 games. This is my chance to rectify that mistake.

I tried to break the monopoly Sims 3 has on my gaming time.

Sims 3 - can't give it up completely.

Lego Pirates - enjoying that one, done my 1st play through of all the levels from the 1st film.

Prince of Persia Trilogy - made a start on Sands of Time.

The Omni-present Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Mortal Kombat - 50 Tower Challenges to go. And now its getting stupidly difficult.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit - Sh***y awful badly programmed horrible experience. Being traded in.

Alpha Protocol - badly designed 'bosses' aside, still a most enjoyable game.

Trying to finish off a few of these titles in anticipation of some upcoming releases that are likely to need a lot of attention.

Nothing - That's right, I've played absolutely no video games at all this week. I spent a wonderful week in Italy with my beautiful wife on holiday :-) Although while I was away God of War collection and Uncharted popped through the letterbox - a couple of birthday presents to myself! Look forward to some PS3 this week - maybe even online...

Same as Woff :) Not played anything. Well I tried to pass some time by putting Final Fantasy XIII back in my PS3 and earning some more XP for my trophies but I really doubt I'm ever going to get platinum.
I did one fight and then thought I just can't be arsed so turned it off again.

I might get back into Assassins Creed Broho because I haven't completed it yet and loved it.
I've also got Red Dead to carry on with... just not in the mood for games right now :(
