Phantasy Star Online 2 will be available as a free-to-play title, SEGA has announced.

The MMO will be downloadable for free, while featuring a microtransaction system.

In addition, both Android and iOS versions will share data with versions on PC and PlayStation Vita platforms, while offering basic character creation and control systems, Andriasang reports.

A closed beta will be available in Japan next month, allowing up to 100,000 users to take part.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is expected to launch on PC this summer, while its Android and iOS versions will be available this winter, followed by the Vita version in 2013.

Oh good grief!! F2P?!? AND FREE TO DOWNLOAD!!!!! I really hope they do it justice this time, unlike PSU, i know people that loved PSU, but it just felt empty and flacid to me. Not exciting at all like PSO.
