Payday 2's upcoming Armored Transport Heist DLC will be released for free to customers who pre-order the PC version of the game through Steam, Overkill has announced.
The DLC features a new heist that tasks players with robbing a fleet of armoured cars, and is set to be released later this year.
"We have added the first Payday 2 DLC titled Armored Transport Heist DLC for free to anyone who has pre-purchased either the Standard Edition or the Career Criminal Edition of Payday 2," Overkill wrote on Steam.
"By pre-purchasing PAYDAY 2, you receive the Armored Transport Heist DLC for free. There is an Armored Transport heading for D.C. and the Payday gang is about to give it a warm welcome. Cash, gold, jewelry [sic], who knows what's stored in those armored cars?"
VideoGamer.com has contacted 505 Games to ask whether Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 pre-order customers will also receive the DLC free of charge.
[UPDATE: Armored Transport will be available on consoles after launch, a 505 representative has told VideoGamer.com, but there's no word on whether it will be available for free.]
Payday 2 launches on PC next Tuesday, August 13, and on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Friday, August 16.
It was revealed this morning that the game had already spun a profit through the sale of pre-orders, despite being a week away from launch.
