Namco will celebrate Pac-Man's 25th birthday with the release of Pac-Man World 3 this fall.
Namco has announced that the third game in the Pac-Man World series will be released in fall 2005, marking the round yellow man's 25th birthday. Pac-Man World 3 will be released on PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PSP and PC.
"Pac-Man helped launch video games into the mainstream, and as he turns 25 this year, we are happy to see that he continues to have an enduring appeal," said Garry Cole, Executive Vice President of Namco Hometek Inc. "We're delighted that today's generation is still able to experience the magic of Pac-Man with Pac-Man World 3."
"Like all of us, Pac-Man has evolved over the years, changing with the times," said Toru Iwatani, creator of Pac-Man. "People love Pac-Man because he's simple and cute and most important FUN."
In Pac-Man World 3, our hero must uncover an evil plot and save the world. He'll run into many old enemies and might even have to turn them into allies in order to defeat Erwin, the evil genius intent on destroying the world. Players will get to play as Pinky, Clyde and Pac-Man himself, with each character having distinct special abilities.
We'll bring you more news on the latest Pac-Man adventure in the coming months.
