Asylum-based scarefest Outlast is now available on Xbox One, Microsoft has announced via Major Nelson.

Already available on PC and PS4, Outlast is set inside Mount Massive Asylum, an abandoned home for the mentally ill. This facility has recently been re-opened by the secretive Research and Charity branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation.

Acting on a tip journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility to discover all manner of horrors.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

Released under the ID@Xbox program, Outlast could be yet another sign that Microsoft has dropped or eased off from its parity release clause.

I'm so, so sorry if you've bought this game! It's the most pointless game I've ever made the mistake of playing!

£16 is far too expensive. This just reinforces that MS don't care about indies (and therefore increased appeal for their system), just max profit.

It's a bit gutting that the US store sell it at $19.99 / £11.50

Ce la vie...

It's only a good thing if Microsoft ease off on the parity release clause.

Top quality indie games are a great way to pass the time. Some of my favourite games of the last 5 years have been indie games and I'm happy to see more of them seeing life on home consoles and handhelds.
