Napoleon: Total War Features for PC

On: PC

2009 is done and dusted, but there's an awful lot to look forward to in 2010. Over the next week we'll bring you our 50 most anticipated games of the year. It's fair to say that gamers appear to be in for quite a treat in 2010, should most of these titles make their expected release dates and deliver on their early promise. The year will bring everything from MMOs and single-player JRPGs to mature adventure games and visceral first-person shooters. Read on to whet your appetite for the year ahead.

50. Star Trek Online - PC, February 5

Our recent hands-on with the closed beta has dampened our enthusiasm for Cryptic's Star Trek Online, but we're hopeful the developer will sufficiently tweak the level progression and mission structure to make the game more interesting than it currently is. The potential is certainly alluring: take control of your very own starship and live out, virtually, the Captain Kirk fantasy. The game's space combat is where it's at - it's a slow, considered experience that focuses on smart ship positioning; lower enemy shields with broadside phaser attacks, then let them have it with hull-shattering photon torpedoes from the front. As with all MMOs, the truth won't be revealed until release - betas only tell half the story. Fingers crossed then, that STO begins with a bang worthy of a warp core explosion.

49. Just Cause 2 - Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, March 26

Rico Rodriguez's grappling hook may just be the must-have in-game gadget of 2010. You can climb buildings with it. You can use it to pull bad guys off cliffs, or to tether two guards together before throwing a grenade at them. You can even use it to catch a ride from a passing helicopter. And perhaps more importantly, it seems as if Avalanche Studios has listened to the criticisms of the first game. There will be hundreds of places to visit (and blow up) on the oppressed Southeast Asian island of Panai, from towering Casinos to space ports, and thanks to Rico's friends on the black market, transport is a doddle: order a jet plane online, and it'll be delivered to you in seconds. If only Amazon could do this…

I'm looking forward to the new Alien vs Predator game. A little concerned that it is Rebellion at the helm in developing it though.

For me...

Alan Wake (just to see if they will ever finish and release it).

Also BioShock 2, Dead Rising 2, Dead Space 2, Deus Ex 3, Fable III, Fallout: New Vegas, God of War III, Mass Effect 2, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (will Ubisoft learn like they did with Assassin's Creed?), Splinter Cell: Conviction and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

A lot of sequels in the list, I know. :(

My main ones for this year are Gran Turismo 5 and The Last Guardian, though it hasn't been mentioned if that will make it or not this year.

I will also be buying;
Heavy Rain
Alan Wake(depending on reviews and a demo)
GOWIII
Modnation Racers
MAG(depending on reviews and another go on the beta if possible)
Probably one of the football games
The new F1 game
Crackdown 2(when it's discounted)

So a pretty good year if they all make it. I'll probably pick up more games as the year goes on.

Mass Effect 2
Two Worlds: The Temptation
Final Fantasy XIII
Alpha Protocol
Crackdown 2
Record of Agarest War
Medal of Honor: Beardy Guy

Those are the only games that are tingling my gamey senses at present, and only ME and FF are definites so far. Probably a good thing too, I'm still playing catch up on my older games as far back as 2007.

Love the description for 'Total War: Napoleon'. Made me :D

I only recently picked up 'Empire' in Steam's winter sale and I'm loving every minute of it. So, I'm one of those who can't wait for Napoleon to turn up.

AvP is looking brilliant. Besides looking brilliant comes down to how much fun and the fear it drives into the player when playing as Marine determines it fate with me.

Dante's Inferno is a goooood hack & slasher! Been playing the demo a lil bit and I am impressed by it. This one will sneak up on people on how good it is.
