The system requirements for the PC version of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor have been revealed by Steam and, surprisingly, Monolith's action-adventure appears to be even more demanding than Ubisoft's graphical giant Watch Dogs.

Shadow of Mordor requires at least a 2.67GHz Intel Core i5-750 or 3.4GHz AMD Phenom II X4 965 to get running, coupled with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 6950.

In comparison, Watch Dogs 'only' requires an NVIDIA GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5770.

To get the most out of Mordor, though, you'll need a GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7970, along with a 3.4GHz i7-3770 or 4.0GHz FX-8350. The game only supports 64-bit systems, too.

Minimum requirements:
OS: 64-bit: Vista, Win 7, Win 8
Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 | AMD Radeon HD 6950
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 25 GB available space

Recommended requirements:
OS: 64-bit: Win 7, Win 8
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 | AMD Radeon HD 7970
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 40 GB available space

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor launches on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on October 7. Pop through the link to check out the latest trailer.

Yup, totally is. This will still run on my 3 year old PC i bought for just over £700, including a monitor, and i'll still pay at least £10 less per new game than anyone with a console and not pay the £30-40 a year pointless console sub.

Those with money to spend? PC's still cater for them as well. It's all about flexibility. There's a cheaper option, there's a not so cheaper option and an expensive option. Consoles don't give you that choice.

I would much rather developers push increasingly powerful hardware rather than sticking with whatever levels suits the current consoles. Consoles should be the 'standard' the base line to aim for, thats where the money is and where the majority of gamers are.

It's a great time to be a PC gamer at the moment because the advent of new consoles means there's a new 'base line' for PC games. It's profitable for developers to push for better and bigger experiences on PC without alienating console gamers.

It's funny, that there's less of a deal about a new mobile phone costing 300-600 quid a pop in real money, even more on a contract. Which is more than a new console. And yet spending an extra couple of hundred quid on a PC to give yourself the choice of a bigger better gaming experience is treated like some elitist money pit. People need to get some perspective.
