Metal Gear Solid voice actor David Hayter – who is known for his work as Solid Snake and and Big Boss – will not reprise his role in the newly announced Metal Gear Solid.

"Well look, At least I had a good run," Hayter Tweeted following last night's Metal Gear Solid 5 announcement.

When asked on Twitter if he had been asked to work on MGS5, Hayter replied, "nope" – although this appears to have been deleted.

Hours later Hayter added: "Thank you all, I can't tell you what your support has meant to me all day. Love you back, my awesome Tweeps. DH"

In the Metal Gear Solid 5 demo the bandaged man appears to be voiced by Kiefer Sutherland, although this isn't confirmed.

@Bloodstorm thats the one with Weller right? I've heard he's very good in that, but I have yet to check it out. Hopefully when I do I won't confuse him with Robo... Although a Robocop/Batman crossover would be interesting...

Indeed. Richard Doyle for Big Boss in this game then? Hayter did voice Snake in MGS3, so I definitely see the sense of this. It makes me laugh that Kojima said the game may not release due to its graphic content haha MGS5 has certainly created a huge buzz.

GreatOden, you are aware Richard Doyle voiced Big Boss in MGS4 right?

I agree completely. As I look at the screenshot at the top of this article, I can't imagine that character opening his mouth and not hearing David Hayter's voice wash over my ears. That would be sacrilegious!

Doesn't matter how good the new voice actor is it just won't be the same without Hayter... it'd be like... Batman without Conroy or Hamill.
