It's two weeks at the top for Need for Speed Carbon, and sales are up 4% over last week. Newcomers, WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 and Call of Duty 3 enter at No.2 and No.3 respectively, with PES 6 at No.4 and FIFA 07 dropping to No.5.

The PS2 version of WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 beats its predecessor's launch week by 10,000 units and also becomes the fourth fastest selling game of the year. Call of Duty 3 becomes the second fastest selling Xbox 360 game ever, only beaten by PES 6, with sales up by 62% over Call of Duty 2 in its launch week.

Elsewhere, SEGA's Medieval II: Total War enters the All Formats chart at No.9 and tops the PC chart, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue is at No.14 (Red Rescue on GBA manages No.34), F.E.A.R. for the Xbox 360 pushes the game back into the chart at No.20, and Buzz! The Sports Quiz is a new entry at No.31.

This week's biggest release is unquestionably Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The game is expected to be massive for Microsoft and should break Xbox 360 sales records. Whether or not it can dislodge the multiplatform giant Need for Speed Carbon from the top spot is a whole lot more difficult to predict.

Other releases of note are Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception for PSP, Cars for Xbox 360, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus for PS2, Lumines II for PSP, and Scarface: Money. Power. Respect. for PSP. The only release likely to challenge Gears is Tony Hawk's Project 8, which is coming to Xbox 360, PS2 and Xbox.
