According to Mass Effect 2 project manager Casey Hudson, The rich sci-fi universe created for the game is getting plenty of interest from Hollywood movie makers.

"Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect," Hudson told MTV. "The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all."

Hudson added: "We're just looking at our options there, but waiting to make sure we have something really right before we do it."

The Mass Effect franchise has already spawned books and a Dark Horse comic book line.

Mass Effect 2 is scheduled for release on January 29 for Xbox 360 and PC.

I like the guy Jason from the transporter movies to play Shepard.

Yeah - Theron's a good shout. Can't see Hollywood going with a female Shepard though.

I actually get scared when they do this.
To find an actor that will do justice to fictional game characters that have already developed their own personality and characteristic is so hard.
I don;t know if anyone feels the same, but I look at movies about games in a different way to most people.
I look at it as a step down. Like taking something out of the story. To make a game into the movie you have to remove all of the interactivity and immersive content, and start from scratch with a concept, most of the time it fails horribly.

Charlize Theron - (what! - mine was female - I'd sooner look at a womans arse for 40 hours!)

At first I thought Christian Bale, but now I'm thinking Sam Worthington.

Freddie Prinze Jr. might be worth a shout too, coz he is the spitting image of Shapard.

I was thinking David Bowie for his British roughed up look.

I think it's safe to say George Lucas will not be in the running to make this film.

It's either gonna be like Avatar or the new Star Wars movie. I'm leaning more towards Avatar.

Funnily enough when we went to the cinema last the trailer for ME2 was shown - followed by my son asking if we could 'go and see that one when it comes out!'

This could be one of greatest sci-fi films of all time if done right.
