Welcome to Heads-up,'s weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommendation of the Week: Metal Gear Solid 4, PS3
There's no denying that some of the most successful PlayStation franchises are still to hit the PS3, but things are now beginning to hot up. In recent months we've had GT5: Prologue and Grand Theft Auto IV and this Thursday will see the PS3 debut of Konami's Metal Gear series - a game that is predicted to sell plenty of PS3 consoles to gamers who've been waiting to make the jump from PS2.

Early reports suggest Metal Gear Solid 4 fans will have plenty to enjoy in the fourth and final chapter in the Metal Gear Solid saga. Graphically it's up there with the best available on any format and a refined control system should mean newcomers can get into the action with more ease. One thing which hasn't changed is the series' trademark humour and ludicrous plot, two things fans will surely lap up in spades.

Look out for our review later this week.

Also out this week
Don King Presents: Prizefighter Boxing, Xbox 360: It's not as flashy as EA's in your face Fight Night, but 2K Sports' new boxing franchise, Prizefighter, looks to have laid down a solid marker for future instalments in the series. We'll have a full review on Friday so watch out for that, but we will say that it offers a unique experience guiding the player through the career of superstar boxer, "The Kid", thanks to a well implemented documentary style. As with 2K Sports' upcoming Top Spin 3 it's refreshing to see innovation in the sports genre which is often filled with yearly iterations of the same product.

And the rest...
Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (Xbox 360, PS3)
Okami (Wii)
Family Ski (Wii)
The Incredible Hulk (Xbox 360, DS)
Emergency Heroes (Wii)
Soul Bubbles (DS)
Turok (PC)
LEGO Indiana Jones - The Original Adventures (PSP)
NASCAR 09 (PS2, Xbox 360)
C.I.D: The Dummy (PSP)
PDC World Championship Darts (PC)
Saints Row Classic (Xbox 360)
The Guild Universe (PC)

There was talk of a regular Metal Gear PS3 Bundle due for release this week as well, but many retailers dont seem to have any PS3's in stock, or very ordinary 'offers' - whats going on?

Well, since my MGS4 preorder's been in place for months, looks like I'll also be grabbing Civilization. The demo was pretty hot.

MGS4 is probably the most hyped game for PS3 owners, will have to get it later on. Other than that, its Legendary that looks good, maybe it can go places where Prey couldn't.
