The appearance of Halo 3 is probably the biggest question of the show for the Xbox 360. Given the franchise's massive success and fan base, there is no denying the importance of the title in Microsoft's chances of knocking Sony from its perch. Information on the title has been appearing in tiny scraps, but IGN has learned that the game will be appearing on May 9, during Microsoft's pre-E3 conference.

According to an independent source who has recently spoken with Microsoft, the new Halo game will be shown in video form, lasting two minutes. Other than that, there is no further information on the game, and unless something massive happens between now and May 9, don't expect any information until the event.

Microsoft is currently refusing to confirm or deny the rumour, giving the usual "we don't comment on speculation and rumours" response. We'll keep you posted as events unravel at E3.
