Half-Life 2: Episode Two (PC)

Special pack is to launch alongside Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and includes numerous extras.

Gabe Newel made an appearance at EA's summer press event last night, and he made a number of exciting announcements. Firstly, Half-Life 2 is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The package will also include the recently released Half-Life 2: Episode One, plus Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and will ship alongside the PC release of Episode Two, which is scheduled for release late this year.

Gabe didn't stop there with announcements though. Half-Life 2: Episode Two will ship complete with two extra games - even on consoles: a single-player puzzle game named Portals, and a multiplayer game going by the name Team Fortress 2. Anyone familiar with Valve's history will recognise the name 'Team Fortress 2' as the ambitious multiplayer FPS that was to revolutionise online gaming. The project sadly died, but in one of the shock announcements of the year, it's back.

If the simple fact that Team Fortress 2 is back isn't a big enough surprise, perhaps the fact that it has a completely new look is. The game is said to look akin to a children's computer animated movie and unlike anything else on the market. Gabe Newell said that he wants to create "the best looking and best-playing class-based multiplayer game," and based on what Valve has achieved in the past, who can say they won't deliver.
