Rockstar has announced that it's working on a patch for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 4 which it hopes to release very soon.

"We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows - Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval," explained a Rockstar forum poster a few days ago.

You'll find a full list of the fixes included in the game's first patch over on GTA Forums.

In related news a new graphics driver from Nvidia is available now and ATI gamers can expect Catalyst 8.12 on December 10, which promises significant GTA 4 performance improvements.

I waited 6 months for this to come out on the PC and was so mad when it wouldn't work that I immediately bought an Xbox 360 + GTA4 and sold the PC version on eBay.

I have no regrets about that decision.

And why is GTA IV not supporting SLI dual video, why release the PC version when it is full of bugs.
After the update i got sound problems as a bonus too!
So now online play is also not possible without the update nice!

Please Rockstar fix the game soon!

Glad to hear that you finally got it working Garcia... Except now that the patch is actually out it will all go haywire again. Screwed-up camera, Niko running around in circles, no voices... And it seems that you can't run the game without installing the patch neither. I certainly haven't figured out how to UNinstall it.

What an absolute travesty of a PC launch. The year's best game has been royally reamed by this port.

I've got the games and had no problems whatsoever. Just have to keep the settings on low. The only probplem that is ticking me off is sometimes the game wont start and I have to restart my computer untill it decides to work. Still worth my $100! (Australian currency)

The game dosn't run as bad as people say it runs, i have had it for a week now and love it. I am sitting around 30fps and sometimes dip into 20's which is easily playable.

I have it running @ 1680x1050 medium texture and rendering on high.

my system is:
e7300 @3.5GHz
Powercolor 4850 Play @700/1000
4Gb Kingston HyperX twin @933MHz

You are going to be disappointed to say the least man, sorry. Most people with state of the art rigs can't even get descent, stable performance.

My copy of the game's arriving this week. Hopefully, The patch'll be out before then. I spent the entirety of yesterday preparing my computer for it, defragmenting, updating my drivers, scanning for registry errors... This better be worth it :P
