Tom Orry, Editor - Sway, iPhone
It's taken a while, but I think I'm now an iPhone convert. In truth I've been using an iPod Touch, but it seems more fashionable just to say iPhone so I'm sticking to that. The game I've been having most fun with is Sway, a unique little game from Illusion Labs. I'm still fairly new to iPods in general but this seems to make great use of the touch screen technology. Your two thumbs are effectively your character's hands, so if you rotate your thumbs your little guy will swing, letting go with a hand when you release that thumb from the screen. Seriously, it's hard to get across how much fun this is in this short little paragraph, but I advise you give this a go if you're looking for a new portable game or simply want to pretend you're Tom Cruise from the beginning of Mission Impossible 2.

Every night this week I've played online ranked matches. Without fail. I've stayed up way too late trying to get my Battle Points up. It works like this: you win, you get Battle Points. You lose, you lose Battle Points. Sounds perfect, doesn't it? Well it's not. It can be incredibly annoying. If you beat an opponent with significantly less BP than you, you'll only get a few. If you beat an opponent with significantly more BP than you, you'll get a decent amount. If you lose to an opponent with significantly less BP than you, you'll lose LOADS of BP. It's completely disheartening. I've got over 2000 Battle Points right now. When I win, I usually only get between 20 and 30 BP. When I lose though, my total tumbles by over 100 BP. Every time this happens I die a little inside. You might say that I shouldn't lose to players with significantly less BP than me, but I'm only human. Even the (once)mighty Chelsea FC lose every now and then. Why not have it like football, or other sports, and not take away points for losing? Well... why? Also, I beat everyone in the office this week without losing a single round. That is all.

The players are revolting. After a poor start to the season - eight games, one win and only six points - half the first team has turned around and said they feel there is a "lack of harmony within the club" and I've been accused of showing a lack of ambition. Off the pitch I've also started major construction work on the VideoGamer.com Lane stadium, with the entire West stand being pulled out and replaced with a two tiered monster. It's costing almost £2 million and in truth should have been built weeks ago, but I forgot. We also made it through to the 3rd Round of the All Evening Cup, although it did take a penalty shoot-out to see off Alvaston Athletic.

Nasreen Davar and I had a history together. We met on a gun-running mission shortly after I turned up in Bowa-Seko, and she's had my back ever since. She's saved my life countless times, so I was more than a little upset when I accidentally murdered her earlier this week. After a few easy assignments, I'd started getting cocky: I went on a hostage rescue mission armed with a sniper rifle and a flamethrower - hardly the best tools for the job. The enemy soon clocked on to my sloppy long-range attacks, and before long I was mown down in a hail of bullets. Once again, Nasreen was the one who showed up to pull me out of trouble. She patched up my wounds, then the two of us went back to finish the job. I was pretty sure we'd cleared the place out when I spotted someone rounding the corner of a nearby hut. Without thinking, I instantly let loose with the flamer: Nasreen screamed in agony, her flesh roasting in seconds. There was nothing I could do to save her. She was always there for me, and now she's gone. I'm a broken man.

For some reason, and I have no idea why this is, I hardly ever play RTS games despite the love I feel for them. I was always a massive fan of the large base building campaigns, although I often got destroyed purely because I spent all my time arranging my buildings in a 'feng shui' style manner instead of actually building any kind of attacking force. Halo Wars was the first RTS game I have tried on a console and I was surprised to find it incredibly easy to manage. So much was my surprise that I immediately went home and tried Tiberium Wars to see if this was as simple to control. The answer, is no. It wasn't bad, it's just that Halo Wars' control system was so gamer friendly that I couldn't help but want to play more. On top of this, there was the Halo nostalgia, the awesome cutscenes, and the challenging campaign that ultimately put a big fat goofy smile on my face.

I've been playing nothing but iPhone games! I don't really have the time for 'proper' games at the moment, my 360 isn't even plugged in and my PS3 is only used for video playback :D Been trying to understand Nano, getting better at Blocked, still annoyed with Crayon Physics but iDracula is good fun.

Mass Effect all week for me (does that count as 'retro' yet?). Getting my butt handed to me on Hardcore difficulty, can't wait to unlock a few more extra perks before tackling Insanity.

Trouble is the 360 is currently booked by my better half for the weekend, looks like more Guitar Hero III co-op for 48 hours before I can get back to the more serious task of cheevo hunting.
