Sony Computer Entertainment's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves took home four BAFTAs at Friday night's GAME British Video Game Awards, but it was Batman: Arkham Asylum which left with the big one, claiming the coveted Best Game BAFTA.

Batman: Arkham Asylum also won the award for Gameplay.

Sony and Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves had to settle for wins in the Action, Story, Original Score and Use of Audio categories.

Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 didn't leave empty handed, claiming the public-voted GAME Award of 2009.

FIFA 10 took away the awards for Sports and Use of Online, LittleBigPlanet PSP won in the Handheld category, Left 4 Dead 2 got the nod for Multiplayer (the first game won in the same category last year), and Flower won the Artistic Achievement BAFTA.

Wii Sports Resort claimed the BAFTA for Family and Social, while SEGA's Empire Total War romped home in the Strategy category.

The BAFTA Ones to Watch Award went to Shrunk!, designed by the Butterflyers.

The evening came to a close with Ant and Dec presenting Shigeru Miyamoto, the creative mind behind the likes of Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong, with the Academy's highest accolade, the Fellowship.

Miyamoto heralded the burgeoning importance of video games as a mainstream entertainment medium and also spoke of the joy he takes in creating gaming experiences for people of all ages.

He said: "Our imaginations and creativity … should be the only limits and that is what makes our industry a joy and a dream to work in."
