Duke Nukem Forever News

Company president comments on the game's progress in a number of forum posts.

George Broussard, president of 3D Realms, has posted on the official 3D Realms website, revealing a few nuggets of information on the infamous Duke Nukem Forever. While the game's many delays have become the subject of many jokes for gamers around the world, there does appear to be some progress on the project.

Commenting on the final size of the game in a forum post from June, George said: "6-8 gigs. Like I said...we have stuff to trim, but we're not done. So it'll be in that range. There is a *lot* of art and that takes up tremendous space."

In another forum post George he talked about the state of the project. He said: "I'm not going to comment too much on where we are or where we are going, but I've said in the past that a lot of the enemies are done and in, and all of the guns are in (most to beta levels). But there's more to a game than 10 guns and 20 bad guys. We're working on some of those parts now."

"I think there are two levels we haven't started yet," said George, "and some others are in pretty advanced states, so it mostly balances out. I wouldn't worry too much about it."

Speaking about the game and what is left from the original production, George said that it has been about 2.5 years since they threw everything out and started on new engine.

"Forget everything prior to 2003," said George. "It's lost gone, and doesn't even count."

These comments all came in June 2005, but they still give some indication of the game's current state and will be welcome news to fans who had given up hope on the game ever being released.

We'll bring you more news if we hear any more on Duke Nukem Forever.
