Duke Nukem Forever News

For:PC  Also On: Xbox 360PS3 Release Date: 10 June 2011

The physics that are to be used in 3D Realms' Duke Nukem forever have been domed at the GDC.

Meqon has shown off the physics technology that will be used in Duke Nukem Forever in a stunning behind closed doors demonstration at the GDC. The Swedish company was announced as the provider for the game's physics middleware a few months ago, and if this demonstration is anything to go by, they were the right guys for the job.

According to reports, the demonstration was short, but very sweet, highlighting the level of environment interaction that the physics provide. While a written account of what happened will make it sound pretty much like any other physics engine, with realistic damage modelling, cloth physics and much more, the presentation was apparently very impressive.

Meqon's technology, which is now into its second version, has been built to take advantage multi-core processor designs that the next generation PC and console hardware will use. While this demonstration clearly made a few people pretty excited, no new information on Duke Nukem Forever's release date has been made available. Perhaps 3D Realms are waiting for version 3.0 of the physics technology to be available, or maybe version 4.0, or 5.0, or 6.0 ...
