Texture improvements, auto-aim fixes and a dedicated server overhaul.

2K Games has released an update for Duke Nukem Forever, fixing a host of problems plaguing the PC version of the game.

The update incorporates fan feedback to ensure as many problems as possible are ironed out. The full list of fixes and additions can be seen below.

  • 4-weapon inventory option in single player campaign
  • Multiplayer server favourites
  • Dedicated server overhaul
  • FOV can be modified
  • Change VOIP to push-tp-talk (bandwidth fix)
  • VAC anti-cheat system enabled
  • Support for Japanese Steam ID's for PC release in Japan
  • Auto-aim fix
  • Blood effects on surfaces behind enemies when shot
  • Steam.exe no longer uses an unusually high amount of CPU
  • Texture quality improvements
  • Fixes to prevent single player and multiplayer save data corruption
  • Leaderboard exploit fixed
  • AMD Dual-Core Optimizer no longer automatically installed (fixes rare bugs with Intel processors)
  • Crash / compatibility fixes and other minor bugs

The first Duke Nukem DLC pack, Hail to the Icons, is due for release in the autumn. This will add three new game modes and four new multiplayer maps - each with new weapons.

Nice effort I must admit, but it still doesn't make the game any less of a pile of crap it is ^_^

My only worry about this patch hitting consoles is that raised 4-weapon inventory. The game is balanced for 2 (plus laser trip mines and pipe bombs) - the only way to keep from storming over anything the game can throw at you would be if Gearbox added many more enemies to the maps - which they won't.
