The third game will close the current storyline.
Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, Diablo III lead designer Jay Wilson has revealed that while Diablo III is intended to close off the story arc from the first two games, it's by no means the end of the series.
"We're not saying this is the end of the 'Diablo' universe, but we are trying to bring this storyline to a close," explained Wilson. "It's not just 'Diablo III' - we've got plans beyond."
Don't expect to see additional games set in the Diablo universe to come thick and fast though. The third game is still without a release date and Blizzard isn't one to rush out its titles.
