Update: It appears that a key is still required to play Dota 2, with only the tutorial and Dota TV freely accessible. Thanks @Cyborgmatt.

Original story: Players yet to give Dota 2 a try can now do so without the need to source a beta key, reports Gosu Gamers.

Until this point Valve had been carefully handling access to the game by dishing out beta keys – albeit keys which could be purchased from the Steam Marketplace for pennies.

Gosu Gamers confirmed that gamers from all territories (except China) can access the game without a key.

For new players there's also the addition of a trailer which plays before the main menu loads.

For its part, Valve hasn't confirmed the game has exited beta, with the official launch set for this summer.

I wonder where people will manage to find a rare and much sought after DOTA 2 Beta invite key from?
