Dear Esther, the Indie Fund-ed PC game from Thechineseroom, has already sold over 50,000 copies, the developer has announced.

Developer Dan Pinchbeck said he is amazed at the success the game has already achieved.

“Not only have we received amazingly positive reviews, but the response from fans has been outstanding,” said Pinchbeck.

“Within one week of launch, we sold over 50,000 copies of the game, which is an extraordinary amount for an indie release.”

Dear Esther was released February 14 and recouped its $55,000 Indie Fund backing in just six hours, shifting 16,000 copies.

Work on patches and translation packs is said to be ongoing.
