Will be ready for production in the 'next few months'.
According to a recent job advertisement placed on Linked in, EA's Visceral Games studio has begun pre-production work on Dead Space 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3, with full production expected to begin in the next few months.
"Seeking a highly motivated Lead combat designer for the Dead Space franchise on Xbox360 and PS3," stated the ad.
The add also revealed that the game is currently "in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months".
Dead Space received a very warm reception on its release last autumn, but was not a huge commercial success. Despite this, the job advertisement reveals "the Games Label at EA is 100% committed to this IP", which is very encouraging for fans.
Dead Space is out now for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. A prequel, Dead Space: Extraction on Wii, hit stores last week.

So EA clearly wanted to see if it had legs first or do something else. Similar to TV with pilots.

I believe there're still number of fans out there drooling for a sequel, even the release date would probably be around 2011.
It'd be difficult for EA to develop DS2 to surpass its predecessor though, for it's already a masterpiece. I picked up DS again last week, trying to collect all the trophies, and it still scared the shit out of me...
