Dead or Alive 5: Last Round could be the last game Team Ninja releases for PC if modders create unacceptable content, the developer has warned.

“We have to deal with mod issues from an IP holder perspective,” Last Round director Yohei Shimbori explained to MCV while discussing the issue of modding next month’s fighter.

“We would like to ask PC users to play our game in good moral and manner. Otherwise, we won’t be able to release a title for PC again.”

MCV suggests that Shimbori’s concerns may relate to the game’s roster of “scantily-clad, titillating women”, although it’s also possible that the developer could be worried about copyright-infringing content appearing in the game.

Back in 2004, City of Heroes developer Cryptic Studios and publisher NCsoft were sued by Marvel over allegations that the game allowed the use of unlicensed characters from its universes. While some of its claims were dismissed, others were later settled outside of court for an undisclosed sum.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is due to arrive on PC on March 30, marking the first time the fighting franchise has been released on the platform.
