Couldn't have one platform hamstringing another, says Valve.
Valve has removed cross-platform play between PC, Mac and PS3 for Counter-Strike GO, reports Joystiq.
The ongoing beta has proven invaluable in helping the studio make the decision to drop cross-platform gaming for the competitive shooter.
"The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC," Valve's Chet Faliszek told Joystiq. "To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn't hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play - essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them."
Those wishing to take part in the beta should fill out a survey and you might get chosen to play. There remains no firm release date for the game.
The game's also coming to Xbox 360.
