Valve has announced that Counter-Strike Source has received a major update and is also now available for Mac via Steam.

CSS is a Steam Play title, so if you own it on the PC - you own it on the Mac. The game also supports cross-platform play between PC and Mac and features a host of new additions.

New match and lifetime player stats and summary screens give you insight into how you play. You can track your kills, your deaths, and compare yourself against other players. Also learn your accuracy with each weapon, so there's no more guessing as to where you should be spending your money.

Over 140 unique achievements have been added. The achievements cover everything from defusing bombs and winning pistol rounds to dominating your first foe. The game's scoreboard has also been updated to feature Steam features such as avatar pictures.

In addition there have been a number of Source Engine updates, bug fixes and other changes under the hood, plus a new Death Cam, which makes it very clear who killed you.

To celebrate the launch, Valve is offering CSS at the special price of £4.76 for two days only.

Wow that's some pretty cool additions. I might have a crack at it this summer, but I've not played PC games in soooo long

This update is pretty good tbh. The interface is much nicer looking, although not much better in function.

But, what do I know, I've clocked 6 hours play time :D

I can honestly see a console version of steam games like this and Portal coming to the ps3, what with steamworks coming soon. Well at least I hope it does.

And if it does then I think that if you already have purchased games through steam then you don't have to re-buy for PS3.
