THQ has appointed Relic Entertainment co-founder Ron Moravek as Executive Vice-President.
Moravek's appointment follows the appointment of new president Jason Rubin earlier in the year.
Moravek has over 14 years experience in the games industry, co-founding Company of Heroes developer Relic in 1997 before being appointed VP and COO of EA Canada in the mid-noughties.
He later served as a senior advisor to NuCaptcha, a cloud-based internet security platform.
"Ron is an exceptional development executive with unique perspective on the industry from both a creative and business point of view," said Rubin.
"His entrepreneurial experience as well as his ability to drive dynamic teams is a great fit for our strategic objectives. Additionally, Ron's experience building high-quality products will help us continue to deliver great games and build upon our foundation to innovate digitally in the future."
Moravek added: "I am thrilled to be re-joining THQ and to be working with Jason and the development teams around the world to deliver high-quality games and digitally connected experiences.
"There are many exciting changes affecting the videogame industry today, and I look forward to building new games and experiences with Jason and the team at THQ."
THQ has found it difficult to stay out of the headlines in recent months owing to the firm's financial troubles.
Earlier this month, the firm announced a 1-for-10 reverse stock split to continue floating on the stock market. The act led to every 10 shares in the company being transformed into 1.
